An American Writer's Thoughts on Japanese Animation

Guilty Crown Audio Commentary

Welcome to our second Harper Anime Reviews Audio Commentary — that thing where we watch a show and talk over it but you can only hear the talky bits hand have to supply the show yourself (Or don’t, if the talking is fun on its own). This time we’re diving into Guilty Crown.

There are a few differences between this and the take on Hundred, the big one being that it is totally sight unseen. Well, maybe not “TOTALLY”, but we decided to start doing this and went back to the first episodes at around episode 5, so most of the show we have no idea what’s coming or how bad it was going to get. All we knew was that it was doing some things that were really easy to make fun of, so might as well record the mockery for all of you.

Because of how the show ultimately turned out, it will get a text review after the last episodes of Audio Commentary go up, again unlike Hundred. For now, though, we have the first three episodes of commentary!

A few apologies: During this stretch, we get some of the episode numbers wrong. We repeatedly say that it’s a 24 episode series (it’s 22) and we can’t quite decide where we left off. So, those inaccuracies out of the way, let us begin.
